Launch of the project for the implementation of a PMS at PAD (Port Autonome de Douala)

The Kick-off-meeting of the project took place last 1st September at the PAD headquarters.

The meeting was chaired by the General Manager of PAD, Mr. Cyrus Ngo’o, accompanied among others by its Technical Director, Mr. Abdoul Karim, as well as the rest of the Port’s areas of activity and their corresponding managers. On behalf of Portel, the Deputy General Manager, Mr. Daniel Merino, attended, together with the management team of both Portel Spain and Portel Africa. And on behalf of our local partner, the company ITGStore, its general manager, Mr. Gabriel Fopa, was present, accompanied by his work team.

Based on the experience and knowledge of Portel, the project aims to design a global and integrated Port Management System, in a totally innovative way, both from a functional and technological point of view (with a state-of-the-art tool based on a microservices architecture), taking advantage of the best practices and experiences acquired in several countries in previous projects of similar characteristics.

An ambitious challenge of implementing a system that allows the modernisation of the processes necessary to facilitate the mission of all the agents involved, by improving the quality of the information and the optimisation of port management in the Port of Douala, which will allow it to take the lead in technology and be a hub reference in the Gulf of Guinea, as well as in the logistic corridors towards the interior of the region.
