Vigo Port Authority and the Local Customs Authority have given their approval for launching PORTEL Paperless Export System this week. The system has been designed by a leading company in technological solutions for PORTEL (GTD Group). Upon the application of the system to process containers and vehicles, Vigo will become the sixth port in the country to digitalize its export operations.
PORTEL Paperless System allows consignees of goods to send their freight manifest to the digital platform, which will respond with the loading schedule of goods and the corresponding customs documents. At that time, the shipping agent will be able to generate the loading order for the terminal and at the same time, Customs will receive all the information about the consignment. The terminal will then confirm the final loading of the shipment.
PORTEL‘s digital solution allows getting rid of release copies and physical shipping documents, thus speeding up the export process and multiplying the efficiency of the port.
The actual implementation of PORTEL Paperless System has come after a three-month implementation process, which began with a presentation of the system to the Port Authority of Vigo and the different agents involved in the process.
Besides being the sixth port to apply Portel Paperless System after Castellón, Alicante, Tarragona, Almería and Santander, Vigo is the second to use the system for vehicle loading, after the pioneering experience of PORTEL in Santander.
